The annual dog-lovers day out, and the biggest fundraising event of the year for the rehoming centre, raised around £22,500 for the charity.

The event on Sunday, at Turnpost Farm in Wymeswold, had fun dog show games and competitions, a kids zone, arts and crafts tent, fun fair, refreshments, raffles, tombolas and stalls for both man and best friend.

Ella Tonge, supporter relations officer at Dogs Trust Loughborough and event organiser, said: “We experienced everything from sunshine to thunderstorms and hail. People stayed though and weren’t put off. It was a really good day with a lovely atmosphere.

“We offered free microchipping for dogs but only found eight that weren’t already done. The highlights were the Doggy Dash and Have a Go Agility, with the four-legged winners of each heading home with a hamper of doggie goodies.”
