Melton runner Giles off to New York to prepare for sixth marathon of the year
Melton man’s exhausting seven marathon schedule boosts MND charity funds
Just two weeks after completing the Chicago Marathon, Melton's Giles Ashton-Roberts will be heading back to America next week to take part in the New York Marathon – his sixth this year.

Giles is running seven marathons in a year to support the MND Association in honour of his mum, Jenny, who was diagnosed with MND 10 years ago.
Sadly, Jenny died in July, just weeks after he took part in three events – the Paris, London and Boston Marathons in two weeks during April.
In August, he ran in Sydney before completing the Chicago marathon earlier this month.
He now has just two dates left in his incredible challenge – the New York Marathon on 1st November followed by the Mumbai Marathon in January.
So far, Giles has raised more than £7,000.
The money raised will help to support people with MND and their families and fund ground-breaking research into potential new treatments.
He said: “The challenge has been really tough. I’ve experienced injuries, pain and exhaustion but for me that’s temporary – the need for us to defeat MND is permanent.
“I’m determined to raise as much money as possible to support the Association.
“Every pound will make a huge difference in the fight against MND.”
TCS, partner of 14 of the world’s most prestigious marathons and running events, is supporting Giles in his mission.
A documentary about his challenge is due to be released by TCS early next year.
The MND Association’s Alistair Laing, who is supporting Giles with his fundraising efforts said: “We are so grateful to Giles for everything he is doing to support us.
"As well as raising vital funds, Giles is raising awareness of MND wherever he goes and to people living with MND and their families that really does mean everything.
"We wish Giles all the very best for his final marathons – our community is behind him every step of the way.”
