Three days of railway fun at Stapleford was just the ticket

Train enthusiasts didn't miss their chance to ride on the picturesque Stapleford Miniature Railway over the Bank Holiday.

The 10 1/4” gauge miniature railway, ran by Friends of Stapleford Miniature Railway (FSMR), opened to the public for the second time this year raising money for LOROS Hospice.

As well as four locos in steam this time there were plenty of trade stands, exhibits and miniature traction engines on display.

Nigel Spencer, Stapleford Miniature Railway media press officer, said: “In total we ferried over 3,000 paying passengers over the three days.

“The first train ran at 10am on Saturday, with the last one at about 4.45pm on Monday.

“The takings for LOROS haven’t been counted yet but I know we have done really well.

“Now we have packed up people will have to wait until the second week in June for the next event.”

FSMR have always put on at least one public event just about every year since 1995. New members/volunteers are always welcome. If interested, email [email protected]
