The 11-strong group, which is completing a programme through the National Citizen Service, chose to complete a 13-mile sponsored walk and an eight-hour bike ride in aid of the foundation.

They’ve been inspired by the charity which aims to provide advice, support, relief and treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from participation in or training for any sport, sporting activity or other form of physical education or recreation.

On Tuesday the teens will embark on their 13-mile walk. They will meet at Melton Rugby Club at 9.30am and begin the six-and-a-half mile trek to the Matt Hampson Foundation offices in Burrough-on-the-Hill.

Upon their arrival at about 1pm they hope to be greeted by Matt Hampson and his team, spending an hour with them before beginning the six-and-a-half mile journey back to Melton.

On Wednesday they will complete their second challenge - an eight-hour continuous bike ride. The teens will take turns to cycle 15-minute bursts on a stationary bike which has been donated by Melton Sports Village.
