The three friends, Colin Baggott, David Loasby and Martin Hansen will be running in memory of Colin’s wife Alison, a former teaching assistant at Brownlow School for 15 years, but who sadly passed away in May 2016.

Colin, who ran the Great North Run in 2004, decided last year that he wanted to run it again in memory of Alison and to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer.

He has recruited David, who ran with him in 2004, and Martin, who has recently started running with the Melton Running Club, to form “Team Alison.”

As all three are over 60 it is unlikely that they will be challenging Mo Farrah and his friends for the lead, but they do hope to finish in decent times and raise money for an excellent cause.
