Cycling fundraisers close in on £125k target in memory of Alice

Cyclists taking part in this weekend’s fundraising challenge in memory of Alice Greaves are closing in on their £125k target.

A party of 100 people will pedal 126 miles from Old Dalby to Sheringham, on the north Norfolk coast, on Saturday, on what will be an emotional day for everyone.

This will be the first ‘If Anyone Can Alice Can’ cycle challenge since Alice passed away in February aged 27 after treatment for multiple cancers.

She started the cycling fundraiser back in 2024 and took part in the first two despite the rigours of her own treatment, with all proceeds going to Hope Against Cancer, a charity which supports research which benefits local people living with the disease.

Alice’s family are continuing to raise money for the charities she supported and they say the fundraising for the latest Sheringham cycle has already passed an amazing £112,000.

Her mum, Libby, who will be taking part with Alice’s father, David, brother, Alfie, and partner, Danny, told the Melton Times: “It will be emotional for all of us.

"We will be wearing shirts with Alice’s picture on the back so we will see her all the way to Sheringham.”

Another of Alice’s events – The Titty Trot 5km or 10km walk or run – generated £61,000 in her memory in March for breast cancer research at the University of Nottingham.

Her fundraising has also supported Rainbows Hospice for children and young people at Loughborough.
