Melton Round Table takes on 4,000-mile Skinflint Rally

“It will be a fairly ridiculous adventure, but behind the fun is a very important cause”

Two teams from Melton Mowbray Round Table are preparing to drive from the UK to Nice and back in less than a week — in cars costing no more than £400 each.

The teams are taking part in this year’s Skinflint Rally, covering around 4,000 miles while completing a series of challenges along the route.

This year’s theme is Toy Story, with both cars being transformed to look like RC, the remote-controlled car from the film, while the teams will travel dressed as Woody.

They are raising money for the Harley Jae Trust, a Nottingham-based charity supporting children and families connected with the Children’s High Dependency Unit at Nottingham Children’s Hospital, with a £10,000 fundraising target.

The theme has a particularly special meaning, as Toy Story was Harley Jae’s favourite film before he sadly passed away.

A spokesperson for Melton Mowbray Round Table said: “It will be a fairly ridiculous adventure, but behind the fun is a very important cause. We would love to hit our £10,000 target and make a real difference to the families the Harley Jae Trust supports.”

The teams have also thanked the huge number of local businesses supporting the challenge:
