Tickets are on sale for the 26th annual pantomime organised by members of the Harby Harlequins which starts next week.

The popular drama group, which draws its membership from across the Vale of Belvoir, is putting on Hansel and Gretel at Harby village hall from Wednesday to Saturday, February 4 to 7.

The Harlequins promise audiences ‘sparkles of colour, humour and music’ at the shows, which be every evening at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

A spokesperson for the drama group commented: “Our story of Hansel and Gretel is a tale of witches, elves and wicked step-mother, and a fearless band of Heroes.

"We tell the story of the shocking misadventures of Hansel and Gretel, poor innocent siblings. Daring-dos, intrigue, cunning, trust and mistrust, all performed with the usual Harlequins’ twists, turns and downright liberties.

“Will Hansel and Gretel outwit the misguided elves?

"Will the witches cook the golden goose? Will the Heroes Flash, with a Crash, Bang and a Wallop? Will Mr Chopper carve his way through the wood? Laughter and fun is guaranteed.

“Enthusiasm, creativity and talent run through the cast of 15, plus our live band.”

Advance booking is essential for the panto as tickets traditionally sell quickly.

Tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for children, with all Saturday night seats costing £12.

On the opening night, on the Wednesday, tickets are free for senior citizens.

Call Judith Neale at the Box Office on 01949 860713, Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm (it is closed on Sunday).
