Another frightening and ghoulish event where zombies will be jumping out and scaring people is to be repeated at Melton Country Park at the end of the month.

The third annual Zombie Trail takes place on Halloween (October 31) and encourages participants of all ages to navigate their way round a pitch black three-mile course.

The evening is organised to raise money for the Melton Learning Hub, a learning facility based in the town for disengaged young people.

Contestants are given glowsticks and torches and at various intervals they will be confronted by an intimidating army of zombies.

Michael Connolly, tutor at the hub said: “The Zombie Trail is a great fun way of putting on a community event to raise money for a great cause right here in Melton.

“The event will be taking place at the Melton Country Park, starting and finishing at the cafe at the bottom of Wymondham Way.

“The race starts at 7.30pm, but participants are advised to get there for 7pm for our ‘group zombie’ warm up.

“The trail can either be a walk or run around the three-mile course. It will take place in the dark with many hidden surprises and frights all the way round.”

Everyone is welcome to take part but children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Entry to the trail is £6 for over 18s and £4 for those under that age.

To request a race information pack and an entry form email [email protected] or pop into the cafe at Melton Country Park.

Michael added: “As with many fundraisers there is a heavy reliance on volunteers, so if the trail is not for you, but you would like to contribute, we need a hand on the night.

“If you fancy yourself as a zombie or even a steward to help direct the run, please get in touch with me.”
