With leaders Wymeswold on their scheduled Bye week, second placed Syston Cons took the opportunity to close the gap at the top with a convincing victory at home against Carington Arms.

The visitors looked certain to go ahead in the opening Leg only for a final ball miss to leave the scores tied.

From that point on the home side dominated and comfortably took the remaining three Legs to secure the victory and cut the gap on the leaders at the halfway point of the season to just five and a half points.

Chris Buxton's third 28 of the season was the top score of the night and again equalled the highest individual score of the season so far. Chris Buxton and Graham Spawton both scored 9's on the night for the home side.

Syston Social Club travelled to Melton's British Legion to play Carington Cons and recorded their first victory since a win at the same alley on Matchday 5. The scoreline could actually have been more convincing with the visitors posting two wide margin wins in Legs 1 & 3, only losing the 2nd Leg by just one pin and seeing the home side force a tie in the final Leg.

Some excellent scoring on the night for the Syston side with both Ken Renshaw and Clarke Anderson posting individual scores of 27. It leaves Carington Cons as the only side still searching for their first win of the season after eight games.

On a low scoring night at Barrow Cons, the home side did enough to share the points and record their fifth 2-2 draw of the season from just eight games played. Barrow took the opening Leg before visitors Top House took advantage of the home team's inconsistency, which included the season's lowest Leg to date of just 10 pins, to lead 2-1 going into the final Leg. However, Barrow then managed to rally with the help of Brent Dalby's 9 to chase down their target of 27 and force the draw. Mick West top scored for Top House with an excellent 26.

Queniborough Wanderers moved into third place with a 3-1 win at home versus Sileby WMC. It proved to be a close game with no more than 3 pins separating the sides in all four Legs. The opening Leg should certainly have gone to the visitors who fell short despite needing just eight pins from their final three players. The visitors then failed to chase down Queniborough's below par 19 in the 3rd Leg before gaining their consolation after posting the highest total of the night with 31 in the final Leg. Queniborough's Ady Hubbard with 22 was the top scorer on the night.

Results: Syston Cons B 3.5-0.5 Carington Arms; Carington Cons 1.5-2.5 Syston Social Club; Barrow Cons 2-2 Top House; Queniborough Wanderers 3-1 Sileby WMC.
