Melton RFC U8s secure Syston Festival honours

Despite having played just one match before, the team won three matches and drew the other against the hosts to lift their age group trophy.

Leon Gormley, in his new position as head coach, and assistant coach Tim Flood were very proud of the effort and skill from their young team.

Leon said: “It really is a great achievement and a great start to their season.”

Many parents and grandparents turned out to see the team on a fantastic day of rugby.

* Mini and junior teams train every Sunday at 10.30am at Melton RFC’s ground, on Burton Road. All age groups welcome from four upwards.
