Melton Mowbray Tennis Club enjoy flavour of the French Open
On a beautiful sunny evening a little piece of France came to Melton Mowbray Tennis Club when head coach Di Burdett and club coach Ryan Parmar decided to run the Melton's own French Tennis Open Tournament.
Over 30 members joined in the fun with standards ranging from first time tournament players to social and team players.

With a red, white and blue theme running throughout their clothing which included berets, striped shirts, onions and French National Flags flying and the theme carried out throughout the clubhouse and food table decoration superbly applied by Di’s superb events team and washed down with a special glass of French wine supplied by member Nigel Haynes.
With the format being a doubles timed tie break points system and four groups set up the round robins saw many closely fought matches.
At the end of these, groups through to the semi-finals were Jared Durrance and Michelle Heaton, Bridget Ingle and Kafo Genda, Harrison Culpan and Karen Pearson and David Owen and Natalie Clayton.
Jared and Michelle came out on top of their semi-final over Bridget and Kafo and Harrison and Karen overcame David and Natalie, both in tough battles.
The final proved to be a flying success for teenager Harrison Culpan and partner Karen Pearson, who were in commanding form to take the trophy for the first time.
Di presented the winners with £20 Amazon vouchers and a bottle of wine each with the runners-up receiving a £10 Amazon voucher plus a bottle of wine.
A presentation was also made to ever-present club member Jared Durrance, who is moving to London to start a new career and all his friends and team mates lined up to say ‘au revoir’.
