The Sargood family seem to be intent on making it a family occasion. The father and son team of Darren and Joe Sargood won through 2 and 1 against Anthony Mousley and Jamie Herbert, while Harry Sargood, playing with his grandfather Tom McGrath, won on the 19th hole against Dave Morgan and Ian Bain.

In the other matches, Matt Williams and Bryan Birchall defeated Alan Bennett and Steff Dutton 5 and 3, while Peter Dickinson and Martin Thwaites beat Ian Copley and Steve Anderson 2 and 1.
