Stoke Rochford Golf: Mags begins year in office

Despite the atrocious weather the Stoke Rochford Golf Club ladies’ section continued with their winter eclectic, Rambo Trophy and general roll-ups.

With new lady captain Mags McArthur in office, the new season began with the Captain’s Drive-in for all club members, and the winner of the Lady Captain’s Spot the Ball competition was June Miller.

The first ladies’ competition was the Hi-Low Trophy earlier this month, played on a windy day, and won by Sue Booth and Judy Rawson.

Their total of 34 points pipped runners-up Mags McArthur and June Miller by two points.

An early season fixture saw the ladies and seniors play a stableford team event on Wednesday, March 11.

Sheila Dugmore, Adrian Stannard and John Martindale won the day with 78 points on countback from Carol Hamilton, Malcolm Edwards and Brian Ayto.

Pauline Haggerty, Doug Lynne and Jim McArthur were third with 76 points.
