North Leics League: Holwell Development and Dons hit form

Holwell Sports Development Team made it a double for the club when they saw off Measham Imperial in the North Leicestershire League on Saturday.

Goals from Josh Blunt, Declan Heys and James Rees ended a run of three straight defeats and moved them up a place to eighth in Division Two.

CK Dons, meanwhile, put six past struggling Castle Donington Reserves on the road.

Doubles from Jamie Kightley and Calum Tyndall, allied to strikes from Martin Maclean and Daniel Partridge gave the Dons a 6-1 win and moved them above Measham into fourth.

The Dons return to Hoby Road, Asfordby on Saturday for the visit of Shelthorpe Dynamo FC Reserves (kick-off 2pm).

But Division One side Wymeswold were knocked out of the league’s Cobbin Trophy after a penalty shoot-out at Ravenstone United.

Goals from Danny Hulett and new signing Jake Rimington took the quarter-final to extra time, but the score remained 2-2, and the Premier Division side came through 4-3 on penalties.

Wymeswold return to league action on Saturday knowing a win at Greenhill YC Reserves would send them top of Division One with both of the top two engaged in cup ties.
