Holwell Sports FC management team quits after poor start to season

After just a solitary win in their first 10 league matches, the management team at Holwell Sports have quit.

Liam Wild and Miguel DeSouza took over as joint-managers at Welby Road in the summer of 2025 and they were confident this season of doing well in Midland League Division 1.

But a series of damaging defeats, including Saturday’s 6-0 loss at leaders Gornal Athletic and a 3-2 reverse against fellow strugglers Kirby Muxloe on Tuesday, proved the tipping point.

Holwell Sports FC said in a statement: “The club can confirm that we have today accepted the resignation of the first-team management team.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Liam and Miguel for their hard work, commitment and dedication during their time with the club.

"We wish them both every success for the future and thank them for their contribution to the club.

"Further updates regarding the first-team management position will be provided in due course.”
