The younger one earned bragging rights - but only just - striking some big blows to finish 46 not out having seen his dad dismissed for 44.

Knossington eventually posted 250 from their 40 overs with good contributions from Allen (7), Heircock (6) and a strong 18 not out from Earl. The home team scored at a fast rate to start with, though their innings was punctuated with regular wickets.

Once the threatening Harrison was bowled for 52, Knossington got on top and eventually bowled Dalby out for 129.

Wickets for Turner (4), Rodenby (3), Greaves (2) and Heircock - finishing things off in steady rain - brought the village team a convincing win.
