These are the areas that will be hit with heavy downpours this week
Heavy rain is set to hit parts of the UK this week, with wet and windy conditions forecast and Met Office weather warnings in place.
Monday evening (9 March) is set to “Windy with further rain or drizzle affecting many parts, heavy on western hills,” according to the Met Office.

Hide Ad“After evening rain eastern parts may see good shelter. A mild night, particularly across England and Wales.”
Tuesday (10 March) will see rain and drizzle clear southwards for most, but it will stay cloudy with drizzle in the far south of the UK, where it will be very mild.
It will be brighter and colder in the north with scattered showers, and windy.
The Met Office UK outlook for Wednesday to Friday explains: “Rather cold with showers or longer spells of rain, falling as snow on hills, especially in the north. Often windy. Probably drier with more prolonged sunny spells on Friday.”

A yellow weather for rain is in place from 6pm on Monday (9 March) to 12pm on Tuesday (10 March), covering East Midlands, North West England, West Midland, and Yorkshire & Humber.
The Met Office said: “Rain, heavy at times, will arrive from the west later on Monday and persist until Tuesday late morning or early afternoon. 20 to 40 mm of rain is likely to fall widely, with a chance of 50 to 70 mm in a few places over higher ground. Given saturated ground and high river levels, this may be enough for some flooding and disruption.”
