VIDEO: A1 southbound near Grantham could be shut for 24 hours following vehicle fire but northbound clear
Chief Inspector Phil Vickers took this video of the scene which shows the burned out shells of the two lorries involved in the crash which has closed the A1 between the A52 and A46.
The A1 northbound has now reopened.
Police have reported one injury which is not said to be serious.
The full extent of the damage will not be known until the two vehicles have been recovered.
All traffic is advised to leave the A1 southbound and follow the diamond symbol via the A46 southbound. This route will go through Newark and Saxondale. Traffic will then take the A52 eastbound to rejoin the A1 at Grantham. The Northbound diversion will also use this route.
Grantham wholetime and retained fire crews joined crews from Corby Glen, Newark and Brant Broughton at the scene at 1.30am.
Two fire crews are reported to be at the scene damping down this morning, but police say the A1 will remain closed while debris is cleared from the carriageways and emergency resurfacing of the road is carried out.
