Vale of Belvoir hospice boosted by donation of thousands of pounds
A hospice in the Vale of Belvoir has received an ‘invaluable’ £4,000 donation courtesy of freemasons based in Melton Mowbray.
Members of St Mary's Lodge raised £500 initially for Dove Cottage Day Hospice through a barbecue and this amount was then match-funded by the lodge.

The remaining £3,000 was generously donated an individual who has been an active freemason for over 60 years.
Their latest donation is gratefully received at a time when funding is particularly challenging for hospices across the UK.
Dora Walls, fundraising lead at the hospice, commented: “Support like this is invaluable to us.
"With less than four per cent of our costs funded by the government, we are heavily reliant on donations from the community to ensure that we can continue providing the very best care, comfort and support for the families who use our services.
“We are incredibly grateful to the freemasons for their continued support and generosity over so many years.
"We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the summer barbecue, to the lodge for match funding the fundraising efforts, and to our very generous individual donor who helped make this fantastic total possible.
“This latest donation will make a genuine difference to the hospice, helping us to provide important equipment for our patients whilst also supporting essential improvements to our building.”
The freemasons is one of the oldest social and charitable organisations in the world, with over 170,000 members throughout England and Wales and the Melton lodge has been long-standing supporters of the Stathern-based Dove Cottage charity for many years.
