Second Great Dalby Dollop was tough going for runners

For only the second time, daring runners slogged through the mud and basked in the sunshine during the Great Dalby Dollop, on Sunday.

The challenge in front of them consisted of a four mile fun run and walk across farmland at Vine Farm.

The event was once again organised by St Swithuns PCC and aimed to raise funds towards the upkeep of the village church and new cause this year, the Great Dalby playground project.

Organiser Ruth Mann said: “There were 124 entries of all ages including runners, walkers, children and dogs.

“The event was very similar to last year and everyone enjoyed refreshments and a barbecue afterwards. We managed to raise £950 and gifts were given out to all finishers including dogs.

“The course this year was a little bit more challenging as runners had to negotiate very muddy sections near the railway line and around the embankment.”

The first man home to complete the course was Chris Lockhart, the first woman was Rebecca Grant and the fastest junior was Jacob Dawes.
