Preparations in place for 42nd annual Vale Conker Championships
Villagers at Long Clawson are getting ready for one of their biggest community events of the year – the 42nd annual Vale Conker Championships.
It all takes place on Saturday October 3 at the village hall, with trophies up for grabs for the junior and the adults competition and entries open to anyone who wants to have a crack.
Participants are asked to get there early to register from 11.30am with the contests starting at 12.30pm.
It costs £6 for adults to take part and £4 if you are aged 14 or under. Money raised all goes to local causes.
Players will be drawn out of a hat to play matches in a knockout format until the final two face off for the chance to be crowned junior and adult champions.
There will be plenty of family fun on the day with a bouncy castle, face painting and games, as well as a licensed bar and a barbecue.
