Appeal for former King Edward VII School students to attend 50-year reunion

Did you attend the former King Edward VII Upper School in Melton Mowbray around half-a-century ago?

If so, you might want to attend a reunion with other ex-students who studied there back in the 1970s.

Kathy Dare – who old schoolmates would probably remember as Kathryn Johnson – is organising the get-together for Saturday June 26 next year.

This her appeal to encourage former students to attend: “Did you leave the Upper School in June 1977?

"Do you muse about your former academic peers, classmates, sports teams, orchestral colleagues, friends or anybody that hung around the sixth form common room in the last few days of school life?

“Well, a handful of us are thinking about organising a reunion in Melton at a venue to be agreed – depending on demand.

"We are seeking expressions of interest prior to Christmas, at which point we will make a decision on whether to proceed and a suitable venue.”

Any former students who are interested in attending the reunion is asked to email [email protected] or [email protected] or you can respond to the https://chat.whatsapp.com/L0uvadtK2rLLberGt0Omgl WhatsApp link.

Kathy asks everyone to respond by December 20 so she can assess the level of interest.

She has shared this excellent photo of the King Edward VII Upper School sixth form during her time at school, pictured outside the sports hall.

The teachers in the photograph, according to Kathy, are Mr Duckworth, Mr Allen (maths) and Miss Thomas (geography). She think the other lady was a physics teacher.
