Melton artist raffles off painting to raise funds for Cancer Research

A Melton artist is raffling off one of his original watercolour paintings to raise funds for the Cancer Research UK shop on South Parade.

Well-known local artist and former Melton Times columnist Richard Cragg (68) is undergoing treatment for bladder cancer and wanted to help with fundraising so he decided to donate his picture of two bullfinches to be raffled off at the Cancer Research UK shop during April.

Shop manager Eva Pone said: “We’re delighted Richard is supporting our important work and hope his lovely painting will raise a considerable amount of money. We’ve already sold a lot of tickets.”

The painting is on show in the shop window on South Parade and you can buy tickets inside for £1.

The prize draw will be held at the shop on Thursday, April 28.
