We had teamed up for the 15th year with Ragdale Hall Spa, which was again due to put up £10,000 to be allocated to groups and clubs across the Melton borough.

Around 50 applications had been made to us asking for grants. We are now hoping to go ahead with the scheme again in 2021.

Hugh Wilson, managing director at Ragdale Hall, said: “Whilst Ragdale Hall would very much like to continue with Make It Happen 2020, it’s with great sadness that we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone this year’s awards.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing support during these challenging times.

“As soon as we are in a position to resume the awards, which we hope will be at some point in 2021, we will announce the news in the Melton Times.

“Anyone who has submitted an application for the 2020 scheme will be contacted as soon as entries reopen, and invited to submit an application.

“Despite the uncertain times, it is hoped that before long we will be in a position to once again lend our help and support to local charities and organisations through the Make It Happen fund.

“With so many of our team, guests and suppliers from the surrounding area, we recognise the importance of community, and it will always remain at the heart of everything we do.”

Melton Times editor, Mark Edwards, said: “It has been a difficult year for everyone and we very much hope we can run Make It Happen again next year.”
