Lots of family fun planned for Melton's May Day festival celebrations
Three hours of May Day celebrations are being lined up in Melton Mowbray town centre.
Melton Mowbray Town Estate is organising a programme of events at the May Day Festival on Saturday May 2, in Market Place, from 11am.

The curated activities will feature a blend of traditional English customs and live entertainment, including music and Maypole dancing workshops.
“We are proud to bring these time-honoured traditions to the centre of Melton Mowbray,” said Dean Rees, CEO of the Town Estate.

“From the traditional folk music to the Maypole dancing, there is something for every generation to enjoy as we welcome the month of May.”
The event begins with a Maypole dancing performance and workshops conducted by Tiger Entertainment, with opportunities to make flower crowns throughout the day.
Local folk bands will perform live music from noon before a team of Morris dancers take centre stage at 1pm.
Other highlights will be Punch & Judy shows by Peter Barratt and professional face painting for children.
