Coronavirus: These are some of the Melton borough’s clubs and events postponed or cancelled

In light of recent developments regarding the coronavirus many social activities have been postponed or cancelled across the Melton borough.

Here’s a summary of the smaller groups, clubs and events that have been affected.

The mayor has postponed his charity Race Night tonight at the council offices. He hopes to be able to rearrange this fundraiser in September. Councillor Graham is grateful to those who had supported the evening by buying tickets and horses, but especially those who had sponsored the races: Duncan and Toplis, Melton Market, Sandicliffe of Leicester, and Stapleford Park Hotel.

Due to the closure of St Mary’s Church in Melton, the organ recitals programme has been suspended until further notice.

Melton Lions have postponed their Swimarathon at Waterfield Leisure Centre supposed to take place on Saturday, March 28. Email Sabrina Tate, fundraising chairman, should you have any queries.

Saturday’s Irish Night at Old Dalby has been cancelled. Govannen were due to headline at the village hall from 7.30pm. The organisers hope to rearrange the event later in the year and so would like people to keep hold of their tickets. Alternatively, for a refund, contact the person you bought it from. And, Eastwell History Group postponed their talk scheduled for yesterday by Leicestershire and Rutland Beekeeping Association.
