Coronavirus: Melton museum closes but town library stays open
Leicestershire County Council has shut down all museums in the county and some smaller libraries to limit the spread of the virus.
Library services will be concentrated on the main centres at Melton, Loughborough, Hinckley, Market Harborough, Coalville, Oadby and Wigston but with the situation kept under regular review.

Hide AdHowever, events, activities, adult learning classes and clubs due to take place in all libraries have been cancelled until further notice).
Items currently out on loan will not be due for return until May 1.
County Hall leader, Nick Rushton, said: “These are unprecedented times.
“I understand residents may be feeling unsettled but it’s important people heed the national advice.

Hide Ad“Life will be different for many weeks and months, which will bring challenges, but the national plans are designed to slow the spread so that lives can be saved.
“We are taking the necessary immediate and longer-term steps to support and protect residents, staff and partners.
“Our focus is keeping critical services running, particularly those supporting vulnerable people such as our children’s and adults’ services, coroners, urgent road repairs, waste disposal and public health.”
