Coronavirus: Asfordby GP surgery to temporarily close for routine appointments

The GP surgery at Asfordby is to close temporarily next week to give its sister practice - Melton’s Latham House Medical Practice - room to treat the area’s most vulnerable patients during the Covid-19 crisis.

All GP practices have been asked to establish a separate area where they can care for those patients who have been classed by NHS England as extremely vulnerable.

Latham House identified the Asfordby surgery as the location staff could care for these patients, who have all been advised to stay in for 12 weeks and only go out for essential health appointments.

All routine work at the Regency Road Surgery, which cares for around 160 patients, will end from next Wednesday.

A statement from Latham House Medical Practice states: “In response to the escalating coronavirus concern, from Wednesday April 8 we will dedicate our Asfordby surgery to supporting our clinically extremely vulnerable patients for the foreseeable future.

“Paper prescriptions can still be posted at Asfordby, these will be collected bi-weekly.

“Please allow 7 to 10 days before you are due to run out.”

Anyone with questions or concerns about their immediate health is asked to contact Latham House on 01664 503000.
