Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s Birstall and Eastern stations were called to the stack fire on Seagrave Road just after 3pm yesterday (Thursday).

Firefighters used hose reels to stop the fire from spreading. A Manitou farm vehicle and drag forks were used to turn over and spread out part of the stack, with crews using a hose reel to stop the blaze spreading to an adjacent hedgerow.

Firefighters were continuing to damp down the hedgerow and turn over the stack at 8.50pm.

The farmer of the land was informed. No-one was injured as a result of the fire
