Melton woman pleads not guilty to harassing councillor on Facebook
A 47-year-old Melton Mowbray woman has pleaded not guilty to harassing a borough councillor on Facebook.
Roma Frisby, of Dalby Road in the town, appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday), charged with an offence of causing harassment without violence.

Court documents allege the defendant pursued a course of conduct amounting to harassment of Leigh Higgins, who serves as a councillor for Somerby ward on Melton Borough Council (MBC).
Councillor Higgins, an Independent member, has represented the ward since 2015.
It is alleged that the defendant, represented by Kate Nield, sent him ‘multiple messages’ of a ‘threatening nature’ over Facebook Messenger.
Following a not guilty plea, an all-day trial has been set for Friday, December 4, at Loughborough Magistrates’ Court.
Frisby is on bail under the conditions that she does not contact Councillor Higgins or comment on social media sites involving members of MBC.
The presiding magistrate, Ms Needham, told Frisby: “If you break any of those conditions you’re likely to get yourself arrested.”
