Village school closes after positive Covid-19 test

A village primary school near Melton has temporarily closed after an individual tested positive for coronavirus.

Pupils and staff at Croxton Kerrial CofE School have been told to isolate for two weeks as a result of the test result, the school told the Melton Times this afternoon (Wednesday).

It is not clear at this stage whether the positive test was made on a child, a teacher of another member of staff.

Helen Sykes, chair of governors, said: “We can confirm that an individual at Croxton Kerrial CE Primary School has tested positive for coronavirus. 

“Keeping our pupils, staff and local communities safe is our highest priority.

“We have followed government guidance and taken all of the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus and protect our pupils and staff.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England’s local health protection team.”
