Free family activities planned at Belvoir Retail Village for Mother's Day
Family activities to celebrate Mother’s Day are being held at Belvoir Retail Village ahead of the adjacent castle being reopened again to the public after the winter break.
On Sunday March 15, there will be live live music, small business pop-ups, delicious food, historical exhibitions and visits from the resident farmyard animals at the free event.

The special day for mums will be followed the day after with the castle gardens, grounds and adventure playground opening up for the summer season.
Belvoir Castle will then admit visitors once again from Thursday March 19, with tours available through the state rooms and other historic spaces.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy food tastings and browse the pop-up market to find the perfect Mother’s Day gift on March 15.
Throughout the event, acoustic duo Two of Diamonds will be playing live music with lots of family-friendly activities, including face painting and balloon artists.
There will also be opportunities to meet the friendly sheep, who live in the Animal Park but will be making special appearances throughout the day.
Eleanor Melville, marketing manager at Belvoir Castle, said: “We’re so happy to be bringing back another free event for the community to the retail village.
"Mother’s Day is such a special occasion for families to come together, and we’re delighted to be hosting a range of activities to help make the day even more memorable.
"From thoughtful gifts to fun experiences for all ages, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
Visitors will also be able to enjoy a free exhibition on ‘Motherhood at Belvoir’ throughout history – it tells the story of Belvoir Castle over five centuries, through the eyes of mothers and mother figures.
Included in the exhibition is details of the life of Eleanor, 1st Countess of Rutland, who was lady in waiting to five of Henry VIII’s Queens and Nanny Webb, one of the longest serving staff members at Belvoir Castle, who was employed for 50 years as a nurse, housekeeper and nanny and was a core part of family life.
