MELTON MOWBRAY TENNIS CLUB

SANTA AND ELVES TOURNAMENT RINGS ALL THE BELLS

Melton Mowbray Tennis Club ran its first Santa and Elves Fun Tournament over the Festive period and it proved a resounding success that rang all the

Yuletide bells.

Head Coach Di Burdett followed up her brilliant tree display at the

St Marys Church with another outstanding addition to the club calendar with a tournament that saw club juniors teamed up with adult club members.

Despite the murky weather eighteen pairs turned out to do battle with older heads supplying the brain and youngsters supplying the legs ( But that’s just the theory ? )

The pairs were put into four groups and at the end of the group stages which saw many closely fought matches the results were :

Group A : Alfie and Enzo, Joe and Mack, Nigel and Ted, Bridget and Toby and Peter and Daniel.

Group B : Jarred and Hugo, Ali and Jacob, Natalie and Jacob, Lexie and Aiden and Laura and Will.

Group C : Pete and Isaac, Karen and Liam, Matt and Thomas, Ned and Thomas , Charlotte and Harrison, Stuart and Sam, Steve and Grace and Dave and Noah.

The first semi final saw Pete Butlin and Isaac Wotton overcome Alfie Smith and Enzo Wright by a 17-11 scoreline and in the second semi Charlotte Taylor and Harrison Culpan came out on top over Jarred Durrance and Hugo Reeve by a 20-13 scoreline.

The Final proved to be a spectacularly closely run affair with both pairs performing superbly before Charlotte and Harrison just edged it by a 19-18 scoreline to round off a terrific fun tournament.

Prizes were handed out by Di who was delighted with the turnout and attitude of all the participants plus had a special mention for her super team of helpers Sarah Culpan and Lisa Thorald , who organised the food and refreshments and Club coach Ryan Parmar who proved a superb right hand man looking after on court duties alongside Di.
