Melton footballer Paul Anderson continued his comeback season with a two-goal performance for Northampton Town on Saturday.

The former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest winger scored twice in a 4-2 win at bottom side Shrewsbury to help the Cobblers move up to eighth in League One, just two points outside the play-off places.

Anderson had already forced a save with an early header before turning the ball in to give Town a 2-0 lead.

The 28-year-old then added a fourth a minute from time with a 15-yard effort.

The performance earned him a place in the EFL Team of the Week, chosen from all three divisions of the Football League.

Anderson is now the club’s second-top scorer with four league goals in 10 appearances since joining the club from Bradford at the end of the summer transfer window.
