Asfordby Girls Under 12s welcomed Groby Girls FC and Leicester City Ladies to their ground for two pre-season matches.

The hosts looked good in the opening exchanges with Groby but quickly found themselves 2-0 down.

Asfordby did not let their heads drop and Hope Metcalf soon halved the deficit. The pressure was rewarded when Erin Baker then levelled with a half volley.

Groby retook the lead, but Alice Henley slotted home after a good passing move to level at 3-3 before an own goal gave Asfordby a deserved 4-3 win.

There were not many clear opportunities for either Asfordby or Leicester in a competitive and entertaining goalless draw.

Asfordby produced some good play from Ella W, Sophie V, Sophie T and the industrious Millie G who caused Leicester many problems with her attacking play and her never-say-die attitude on the right.

The player of the day award went to Asfordby’s Lauren F for her great defensive work.
