Back to back wins for MBL in Melton Skittles League
Melton British Legion recorded back to back victories for the first time this season with a 7-4 win over Melton Skittles League leaders Syston Cons.
In a high scoring game the consistency of the home side proved the difference with all seven players scoring 20 and above on the night. It was close all night with two of the four Legs and two of the head to heads tied and the result was in doubt right throughout the final Leg. Lou Catling with 26, including a 9, top scored for the Legion while Mick Reed's 27 for the visitors also included a 9.
Ashby Nomads and Carington Arms played out the first tied game of the season at 5.5-5.5 with the home side missing out on several opportunities to secure the win. Despite winning three of the four Legs, Ashby were pegged back on the head to heads with their last man failing to find the one extra pin on the final throw that would have secured victory on the night. Trevor Riley for Ashby proved to be the top scorer on the night with 25.
The League will now take a break for Christmas and resume on Tuesday 6th January.
