FIRST LOOK: Christmas at Belton 2025 dazzles with spectacular Northern Lights experience

DAZZLING, breathtaking and utterly otherworldly — look up, and you're guaranteed to see the Northern Lights at Christmas at Belton 2025.

The trail’s showstopper is Aurora, a 50-metre overhead canopy of shifting colour inspired by the real aurora borealis.

It washes the sky above the National Trust’s Belton Estate in mesmerising waves of neon green, violet and electric blue, creating an immersive, sky-high spectacle that instantly sets this year’s trail apart as its most enchanting yet, writes Graham Walker.

And that’s just for starters.

"It's year six of Christmas at Belton and again, another amazing trail with lots of new installations and returning favourites to experience,” she Charlotte.

"Aurora is a 50 meter long installation above you and it replicates the Northern Lights. So people can experience them here in Lincolnshire this year.

"As well as the installations, we have the classics that everyone comes to enjoy every year, including the Christmas Cathedral, which is obviously a really popular selfie spot for families and friends, as well as the real flame fire garden, and also the laser garden as well - with the introduction of smoke machines this year.

"It's a Grade One listed garden. The trail runs all the way from the formal garden, so the Italian and Dutch garden, and then through to the pleasure grounds, right up to the boathouse. So you get to experience different parts of the historic gardens.

"In the stable yard we have fairground rides, food vendors and great atmosphere.

"We have worked with Culture Creative and Ramond Gubbay Live for six years. It's really important that we take into account the historic nature of the gardens and conservation element of things.

"It's become a place where families come to enjoy together. It's like a tradition now.”

She reminded everyone that Belton estate isn’t just for Christmas, with great reasons to return throughout the year.

''We have all of our seasonal programming, Easter, summer, autumn - all through the year, there's always something going on or something programmed in. So we encourage people to come and then return throughout the year to see different seasons at Belton and what's going on, and, of course, all the events,” she said.
