Visitor numbers are up at free bank holiday Melton Show and Festival

And as a bonus, the Sunday and Monday event was free entry for the second year running.

Organiser Ashley Wood said there was once again a great mixture of rides and attractions to keep the whole family happy, with the Star Wars costumed characters from the UK Garrison proving very popular.

“It is difficult to be accurate on the numbers who turned up, because with it being free people come and go throughout the day,” said Mr Wood. “But I was very pleased with the attendance over the two days, particularly the Sunday when the weather was nice.

“We were definitely up on last year.

“We will be back again with the show next year and just hope it continues to grow.”
