A lorry caught fire earlier which prompted police to close the road northbound between the Tickencote and Stretton turn-offs.

The closure remains in place while firefighters deal with the aftermath of the lorry blaze, recovery vehicles arrive to deal with the debris and the highway surface is made safe.

The impact on Melton roads has been severe with traffic already busy for the traditional Tuesday markets.
