A visit from inspirational Melton fundraiser Claire Lomas inspired pupils at a Loughborough school to raise over £6,000 for charity.

Pupils at Fairfield Preparatory School raised £6,275 for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation by taking part in a week-long dance-a-thon, holding cake sales and through collections at the school’s Christmas productions.

Claire, who was left paralysed from the chest down after a horse riding accident in 2007, has since campaigned to raise money and awareness for spinal cord injuries, raising over £500,000 to date. She said: “The Fairfield pupils did a brilliant job raising the money and I’ve been hearing all about their fantastic dance moves! This money will go towards vital research and support for other people with spinal injuries.”
