Coronavirus: A dozen more Leicestershire people have passed away

A dozen more coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded for Leicestershire patients over the last 24 hours.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, which manages the city hospitals where Covid-19 patients are transferred to from across the county, made the announcement today (Friday).

A trust spokesperson said: “Sadly, we can confirm that 137 patients being cared for at our hospitals, and who had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.

“Twelve of those deaths have been announced today (April 17).

“The ages of the patients range between their 50s and their 90s.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of the patients at this very difficult and distressing time.”

These figures do not include people who have passed away in care homes and in the community and who have tested positive for the virus.
