Belvoir Big Band raises £1,500 for cancer charity with Melton Theatre concert
A popular community band raised hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support with a concert at Melton Theatre.
Members of Belvoir Big Band delighted the audience by performing a range of tunes with everything from a James Bond medley and Glenn Miller’s Little Brown Jug and Tuxedo Junction, to popular songs by Michael Bublé and Nat King Cole.

It has been a tough year for the Harby-based band after its founder, Jon Jayes, passed away aged 76 back in June.
The band continues to play in his memory, raising funds for local causes – the Melton Theatre concert raised £1,300 with the proceeds boosted to £1,500 by the band.
Musical director, Jonathan Barker, told the Melton Times: “We had a number of instrumental soloists perform from around the band and also this was our first big theatre night with our brand-new trio of singers, Joe Williams, Duncan Fielding and Elaine Bishop, who rounded the night of with a wonderful vocal trio with the band.
“This has been a challenging year for the band, with a number of key changes around the band, so it was great to see the band performing to a high standard and we received some very supportive comments from the Melton audience.”
As well as tickets sales, the fundraising also included donations of £200 from the Clifton Wealth Partnership Ltd and £100 from Nicholas Richardsons Chartered Surveyors, which the band was very grateful for.
