Firefighters tackle bungalow roof blaze in Syston

Crews from Birstall Fire Station and Eastern Fire Station were called to the property in Northfields just after 9.30pm.

They tackled the blaze using a hose reel jet, a compressed air foam jet and two breathing apparatus.

Firefighters managed to put the fire out by 10.40pm and were then dampening down and doing cutting away work at the scene.

They also checked for hot spots in the roof space and covered the exposed area.

The cause of the fire was accidental and no-one was injured.
