Vale of Belvoir farm to open up for a day of free family fun
A farm in the Vale of Belvoir is preparing to open up for a free family event this weekend as part of the national Open Farm Sunday.
All are welcome at Peacock Farm, at Muston, with loads to see and do as you experience life at first-hand on a busy working farm.

Visitors can enjoy tractor and trailer rides, watch milking demonstrations, handle chicks, see farm machinery in action and listen to educational talks on farming, wildlife and the countryside.
There will also be children’s activities, charity and community stalls, refreshments and a chance to buy cold-pressed rapeseed oil, infused vinegars and honey at the farm’s honesty shed.
Donya Donger, of Peacock Farm, said: “Entry is completely free and we have parking and toilets on site.
“It's a relaxed, family-friendly day out on a real working farm, with plenty going on throughout the day.”
Open Farm Sunday is organised by Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF), at participating farms from 10am to 3pm, to help families and the local community better understand where their food comes from and what life on a working farm actually looks like.
Also taking part locally are Hall Farm, on the Brooksby College Campus; Elms Farm, at Costock, near Loughborough; The Allerton Project, at Loddington, near Launde Abbey.
Annabel Shackleton, the Open Farm Sunday event manager, commented: “Open Farm Sunday is a wonderful day of discovery. Families can immerse themselves in a world they don’t usually see.
“It’s an opportunity to see sustainable farming in action, not as an idea on a label, but as something real, practical and happening every day.
“For 20 years, Open Farm Sunday has helped build trust and connection between the public and farming.
"This anniversary year is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults alike to engage with farming in an interactive, fun and inspiring way while seeing how their everyday food choices can help support a more sustainable future.”
The address for Peacock Farm if you would like to attend is 4 Woolsthorpe Lane, Muston, NG13 0FE.
