Primary school pupils raise nearly £1k for charity with fundraising activities

Children at Whissendine CofE Primary School have raised nearly £1k for charity with a series of fundraising activities during the last academic year.

The Young Governors at the school chose Parkinson's UK as their beneficiary because one of them has a grandparent living with the condition.

Supported throughout the year by Mrs Winn, the Young Governors organised a range of successful fundraising events, including a 'Break the Rules' Day, a Heads and Tails tournament, and a colouring competition.

The school community enthusiastically supported each event, helping to raise a very impressive total of £885.

To celebrate the achievement, Katie Thomas, a representative from Parkinson's UK, visited the school to receive the donation alongside Cath Jones, Rutland Group Lead, and Mrs Kate Bates.

Teacher Hannah Auton said: “The school is incredibly proud of the Young Governors for showing such compassion, teamwork and dedication in supporting this wonderful charity.”
