Theatre group to hold Melton community concert to celebrate its first birthday
A theatre group is celebrating the first anniversary of its founding by staging a glittering concert at Melton Mowbray’s St Mary’s Church.
The Spotlight Theatre Group, which is based in Hickling, was formed a year ago to give concerts, musicals, shows and cabaret events for the community, with many raising money for local causes.

Tickets are now sale for their birthday concert on Saturday October 17th, when a variety of local acts will be performing in the church.
The Belvoir Big Band will play, Hickling Choir will also be there and 1940s singer, Lady Lindy, is to belt out some classic wartime tunes.
The theatre group’s producer, Lisa Mills, will also be playing the clarinet, Thomas Corden will be on the piano and there will be tunes performed by The Spotlight Singers.
The community show is funded partly from the money the group received this summer from this year’s Ragdale Hall Community Chest, which the Melton Times partnered in.
Lisa said: “The audience will be treated to a night of marvellous music, spectacular song and inspiring instrumental performances.
“It's performed By the community, for the community with local people taking part.”
The group organises shows throughout the year and has Christmas events planned in Hickling, with members also scheduled to be singing at Belvoir Castle.
They've got a Valentine's event taking place in February at Long Clawson village hall too.
Tickets for the St Mary’s Church concert in October cost £10 each and can be bought online at www.ticketsource.com/the-spotlight-theatre-group-and-singers or by calling 07525 779162.
