COLUMN - On The Radio with 103 The Eye
It's great when community radio can work in partnership with other organisations providing services in the local area to everyone’s benefit.
We've recently experienced how important that mutual support can be.

Galliford Try, the contractors who are building the North East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road, arranged for their fencing contractors, A & A Lamb Limited, to erect 58 metres of fencing and a gate around the tower from which we broadcast to Melton and the Vale of Belvoir on 103 FM.
The fencing team did an excellent job amid freezing cold conditions last week.
We had previously had to remove an old fence to carry out other essential works on our transmission site.
As a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, 103 The Eye could not have afforded to pay for the materials and labour,to replace it, especially in the present challenging economic climate.
Galliford Try have generously done all the work for us at no cost in recognition of the help 103 The Eye are giving them in broadcasting regular traffic and travel reports.
These have been informing motorists of all the roadworks, closures and diversions which have been necessary since construction of the new road started more than two years ago.
The traffic bulletins are supported by the recently opened Welcome Break Hickling at the A46/A 606 junction, one of the diversion routes for motorists during the closure of Nottingham Road for several weeks last summer.
Information for the bulletins comes from Leicestershire County Council, from national traffic and travel news service INRIX, and from our regular listeners who are out and about.
Galliford Try Liaison Manager Gino Salvatore said: "This type of support has been invaluable in providing live updates as and when required.
"On behalf of the MMDR project communications team we would like to offer our thanks to the 103 The Eye radio team and our best wishes for your continued success.”
103 The Eye is the latest in a long list of community organisations to benefit from the outstanding commitment and support of the Galliford Try Project Delivery Team, whose projects have ranged from groundworks and interior decorating to providing work experience days for local students.
We have showcased several of these on our radio programmes and are continuing to do so.
