Reels and jigs enjoyed at Waltham’s first ever Mid-Winter Ceilidh

A lot of fun was enjoyed at Waltham’s first ever village Mid-Winter Ceilidh on Saturday evening.

The event was a joint initiative between the village hall – who were trying to encourage more villagers to use the facility – and members of the Waltham Scottish Country Dance Group.

Live music was performed by Iain and Russell, on accordion and drums, to accompany the dancing and keep everyone moving.

Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant and many other ceilidh dances were all called during the ceilidh with the village hall representatives providing drinks and hotdogs during the interval.

The lively music continued with more reels and jigs, and the fun evening finished with Auld Lang Syne.

Waltham Scottish Country Dance Group dance on Thursday evenings in the village hall and are always on the lookout for more locals to join them.

Anyone interested in the dancing is invited to call John Aitken on 07770 428103 for more details.
