Woman is cut from wreckage after road collision at Asfordby Hill

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after the vehicle she was travelling in was in collision with another at Asfordby Hill this morning (Tuesday).

Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) was scrambled and firefighters from Melton and Birstall attended the scene.

The A6006, where the accident happened at around 9.15am, was blocked in the aftermath of the collision.

Doctors treated the patient after she was cut free from the wreckage by firefighters.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two cars were involved in a road traffic collision.

“One female casualty was trapped in one of the cars. Paramedics are in attendance and the casualty is now clear of the vehicle and is being conveyed to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by air ambulance.”
